Murder Gone Wrong

Fresh pine scent fills cold night air as my boots crunch down on the needles, breaking them open. I come to a standstill, then kneel upon the ground beside a body quivering in fright. He cannot move; for his legs are broken. I test the cordless drill held within my hand letting it whir and whine for a few seconds. Then place it beside his temple. He whimpers. Spittle and blood trailing down, making stains upon his pale cheek.

I look up at the moon and attempt to control my rage. My eyes find his. "So let me get this straight. You and your 'partner' over there, followed me home. Wanting to kill someone, anyone and as it just so happens that would be me. For shits and giggles. No other motive. Am I right?" My victim shakily nods head but doesn't speak. Not since I tore off his friend's head, has he uttered a word.

"Your unsuspecting prey was to be tortured, then buried alive in this make-shift crate coffin you two idiots built?" Tears stream down, his face full of sheer terror. Expression pleads with me. Then, a slight nod once again. I exhale with a hiss of disgust.

"Apparently you brainless fucks never thought there would be something worse out here then you and your plans." Now the hysterical sobbing begins. I really cannot stand noise, you know? Next, he will probably beg for his life. Cause he was young. Or maybe now saw the light. Whatever. I shrug. These humans, they're all the same in the end.

"You stupid stupid mortal." The drill bit begins to spin. "I'm a fucking monster. And when I'm done with you, I'm going to find your family." He opens his mouth to scream. But nothing comes out. Steel digs into the side of his head. My face is soon splattered with bits of skin and bone.

Yellow moon hides behind a black cloud. Shadows start whispering, as a breeze parts the trees. I am up on my feet once again. Booted foot crashes down on my victim's larynx. The satisfying crunch assures me he will never awaken. I throw down the tool and pick up an ax. Its bladed head glinting ominously.

I close my eyes, absorbing everything about the human at my feet. I see a family, sitting around a table. Laughing. Living. I turn in the direction of this. I chuckle. Re-open my eyes. Dry leaves rustle about me, their rasping sing songs seem to mimic my words, "I'm a fucking monster. And when I'm done with you..."

I head off now, in search of his family.

(an old piece which I have re-vamped somewhat)
